How Silence Sharpens Awareness and Presence
We speak to express ourselves. We speak to communicate. Words are not just powerful, they have a subtle science too. But when to speak and when not to is a transformative art. Words are also our energy in motion. They carry our intent and inner atmosphere along with or rather impact beyond apparent.
We are in a Master Shift series and the most important dimension of any growth or evolution is Inner Regulations and Maturity. Speaking or communicating is also a part of inner regulation and asks for maturity.
Speak less and observe more is one of the disciplines when inculcated with others, giving you authenticity.
Why do we speak? Most of the time, we speak to convey or express. We convey to influence. We speak to grab attention, to showcase our presence or our knowledge to others. What we fail to understand is that all of such spoken words waste our energy and create a negative impact on others than what we intend while speaking or communicating.
Beyond this, this surface level or unnecessary expression, we miss a more important opportunity that is observation. When our words precede sensing others’ state of being, chances are we are wasting the opportunity to impact, to heal, to build or create something. Unnecessary speaking is also a sign of immaturity, which is at the core of limited growth. Observing before speaking gives you space to mature your communication. It shifts your orientation from judgment to empathy and authenticity; and from mere narrative to field of awareness.
When our language is crafted by awareness it becomes an art of communication. This is only possible when you give yourself the opportunity to observe more and speak less or observe, let it mature before expressing through words.
When we pause to observe rather than jump with expressing our perception or narration, we leap into silence. Silence is the opening of intelligence. When inner and outer noises quieten, you can observe within. What you want to communicate, what are your inputs, where do they come from? Is it anger, hurt, insecurities, greed, need of power, need of attention, where your need to speak comes from? Once you become aware, you can easily settle the dust. You can clearly become aware if your words are worth growth or healing or at least positive impact on others or adding value than only speak otherwise conserve your words and energy both.
Your impactful speaking also adds value to yourself. People will begin to admire you and take you seriously. You will create your meaning and worth. This is what we communicate for, right? We speak because we fear invisibility, we fear less valued, we fear our silence can be a sign of our dumbness. But anyways speaking to fill these gaps will eventually harm both speaker and listener.
Speaking less is not shrinking. Speaking less is not dumbness and passivity but intelligence in motion. Observation is not a withdrawal but sensitivity. When you observe more and speak less, or at least observe before speaking, your communication becomes precise, your energy leakage stops. Your intelligence is conveyed more than your perceptions or judgments and your influence becomes natural.
This is Master Shift, your orientation, your maturity before your mastery and becoming. Welcome to your foundational grounding.
